UPCOMING SHOW : Once again OPS will be giving members an opportunity to show small works in a non judged show at Adelante Gallery in August. The show will open Friday, August 6, for the first Friday artwalk and will continue through the month of August. We will be receiving art on Thursday, August 5 beginning at 3:30 PM. Your paid membership allows you to bring up to 3 framed works-with the image no larger than 144 square inches. The pieces must be wired and ready to hang-no sawtooth hangers. This show also is a little different since you can hang 1,2, or 3 works and pay individually. The entry is $10 per piece or the bargain price of 3 for $25 and there is a 10% commission for works sold. Download the entry form here. Pastels on High, International Juried Show – The Sierra Pastel Society in Northern California announces a call to artists for their 8th International Juried Exhibition, October 1 through 23, 2010 at Hang It Up Gallery in El Dorado Hills, CA. Over $5,000 in cash & merchandise awards, including $1000 Best of Show award. Juror: Tina Moore; Judge: Waif Mullins. Only digital images on CD accepted. Work must be original, predominantly soft pastel, and must have been created in the last 3 years. Any work taken from previously published materials or produced in a student setting under direct supervision is not eligible. All entries must be for sale. Member $30, Non-Member $35 for up to 3 images. Additional 3 may be submitted for $6(M)/$10(NM) per image. Deadline: July 31, 2010. IAPS has two new features on their website. First is a comprehensive listing of all member societies national juried exhibitions. When you’re looking for shows to enter in the next year, check their website for the listings and prospectus. Secondly, they are now featuring individual pages for Master Circle artists. By clicking on the individual artists name on the main master circle page, you can access their individual page. This feature is currently being updated so not all the artists have links set up. Ron Chapman, an OPS member, is one of the select master circle members.

The Pastel Society of New Mexico will host their 19th Annual Juried Pastel Competition/Exhibition November 5-28th, 2010. Application deadline: August 14,2010 (Digital). Location: EXPO New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. Judge: Clive Tyler. 6th Annual Mile High International 2010 Exhibition, sponsored by the Pastel Society of Colorado. September 3-25, Western Colorado Center for the Arts, Grand Junction, Colorado. WORKSHOPS



Terry Ludwig, pastel maker extraordinaire, will bring several excellent workshops to Terry Ludwig Studio in the next few months. For more information please Ludwig's website.

Dianne Ponting, Premier Pastellist and Master Pastellist of Canada and signature member of the Pastel Society of America will be hosting a soft pastel workshop in the Oklahoma City area. This is a still life, representational class with an international instructor. More details can be found on Dianna’s web site. This is her second trip to the area and the class is already 2/3 full with returning students so don’t be slow in signing up.
