World famous Frankhoma Pottery, located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, is looking for artwork with an Oklahoma theme. They’ve recently remodeled the Frankhoma store, adding a museum and a Department of Transportation Visitor Center. With the expected increase in store traffic, they want to add products – and art – made in Oklahoma and/or with an Oklahoma theme. The Oklahoma Department of Tourism gave information about the Oklahoma Pastel Society to Joe Ragosta, new president of Frankhoma Pottery, who in turn contacted OPS president Jan Hutchinson. At this time, the commission on artwork sold is 30% to Frankhoma. To pursue this opportunity further, please contact Joe Ragosta Frankhoma Pottery’s address is 9549 Frankhoma Road, P.O. Marie Kash Weltzheimer will be teaching several workshops in Ardmore, all in conjunction with her exhibition at the Charles B. Goddard Center (in Ardmore) of Southwest and Oklahoma Pastel landscapes. The show will run from November 25, 2008 through January 9, 2009. A closing reception, will be on January 9th, beginning at 6:00 p.m., with entertainment provided by well-known local guitarist Edgar Cruz. Workshops for area students and adults are tentatively scheduled for January 15, 16 and 17. The mornings of January 15 & 16 will be devoted to a workshop for high school students, while the afternoons of those same days are set aside for an adult workshop. The minimum class size is 6 students/maximum class size is 10 students; cost for the two afternoons (a total of 8 hours of instruction) is $120. A one-day, Saturday (January 17th) workshop will be scheduled IF the demand for it is there. Marie says that the plan for the Saturday-only class is 6 1/2 total hours of instruction, priced at $100 per student. Once again the minimum class size is 6 students/maximum class size is 10. However, the folks at The Goddard Center in Ardmore need to know if anyone from Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Norman, Tulsa (basically anywhere outside south-central Oklahoma) is interested in taking Marie's possible Saturday workshop next January.

Did you know that Porch Art and School Supply carries Sennelier pastels? And full-size sheets of Art Spectrum’s Colourfix pastel paper in all colors? And that they now have all the colors of Canson Mi-Tientes paper too?

Dennis Parker is offering a Life Drawing Class which continues through May. Classes will be held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. His classes and workshops are open to both beginners and more experienced artists. Contact Julie McAfee at 755-5672 or painterly1@juno.com for all the details and to sign-up.

If you’d like to take a workshop outside Oklahoma... Maggie Price will be teaching in a variety of places in the United States and overseas in 2008. Her workshop schedule along with contact information and a brief description is listed on her website.

Well-known pastel artist Doug Dawson is also teaching workshops all over the United States. Go to his website, , where you can see a list of his scheduled 2008 workshops. Also you can email him or even give him a call at 303.421.4584.
