Debby Kaspari brings a tremendous amount of experience in painting and drawing from around the world. She is an illustrator, writer, and painter, and her unique style blends graphite and pastel. You can see an example and description of Debby's work by clicking on this link.
If you plan to stay for the afternoon workshop, here's Debby's recommended supply list:
- Sturdy easel, such as a French easel.
- Toned, slightly toothy paper such as Canson Mi Tientes in a middle value gray or neutral tan, light enough that the 6B pencil line shows, but dark enough that pale pastels pop. Suggested colors: Mi Teintes Felt Gray or Steel Gray. At least 4 sheets. Minimum size 16x20. No sanded paper, please.
- Drawing board
- Sketchbook
- Soft graphite pencil- 6B preferred. I recommend the Kohinoor Triograph 6B.
- Sharpener (if you’re using the Triograph, go to a drug store and get a large-hole makeup pencil sharpener, such as Wet ‘N Wild)
- Set of medium soft to hard pastels such as Nupastels or Holbeins, middle values, lights and brights. Darks are not necessary.
- A jar lid to rest the heel of your hand on while you draw and paint.
- Masking tape
- Kneaded eraser
- Paper towels
